Notice what’s not here? Oliver! Hammond put his money where his mouth was on that one. He didn’t just fall in love with it in the show. He paid to have it shipped to England and restored with his own money. It was at the studio for a while as a set piece, but it is his own personal vehicle.

The National Motor Museum is fantastic. Went there for my honeymoon with the wife. That was 6 years ago though, so they have added many more vehicles by looking at your pics.

The Excel was actually the start of the partnership between Lotus and Toyota. Toyota asked Lotus to help develop the Supra MKII, which allowed Lotus to make the Excel which shares many components including the wheels.

That’s cool. Didn’t know that. Apparently according to the wikis, pretty much the entire drivetrain from the Excel is from the MKII Supra. The only thing that Lotus thought they could do better was the engine. Uhh.... Confusing? It was the 80s. Cocaine was probably involved. I had no idea that these were front engined either. I always assumed mid.

nah it was quite a small section of cars, I’m guessing they rotate the displays around as they didn’t have the police fiat coupe which I’ve seen pics of it being on display there
